Royals’ Kendrys Morales appeals one-game suspension

Kansas City Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales received a one-game suspension and a fine for his actions following a ninth-inning ejection, which included returning to the field, in Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The amount of the fine wasn’t disclosed. Morales was scheduled to serve the suspension Thursday when the Royals played the final game of a four-game series with the Rays, but he appealed the ruling and was in the starting lineup, going 0 for 3.

Right-hander Luis Severino is rejoining the New York Yankees’ rotation. Dropped in May after starting 0-6 with a 7.46 earned-run average, Severino was banished to the minor leagues for two months. He now will take the turn of the recently traded Ivan Nova and start Tuesday at Boston. ...
