USC tailback Charles White leaps over Ohio State defenders for a one-yard touchdown with 1 minute 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the score in the 1980 Rose Bowl. The point-after kick was good to give the Trojans a 17-16 victory in a battle of unbeaten teams. USC would finish the season 11-0-1, a 21-21 tie with Stanford the only blemish, while top-ranked Ohio State finished 11-1. Alabama finished the season ranked No. 1 after a 24-9 victory over Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.
