Watch 16-car wreck that marred end of NASCAR race in Talladega

A 16-car wreck marred the end of the NASCAR race in Talladega, Ala., on Sunday, and a lot of drivers lashed out at track officials afterward.

With six laps to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. bumped J.J. Yeley, sending Yeley’s car into Kurt Busch’s car, which went airborne and flipped once before coming to a stop on the hood of Ryan Newman’s car. That set off a domino effect, leading to 16 cars taking damage.

“My mom doesn’t come to four races a year -- Daytona and Talladega. Wonder why,” Busch said after the race.

“They can build safer race cars, they can build safer walls, but they can’t ... keep them on the race track, and that’s pretty disappointing,” Newman said. “I wanted to make sure I get that point across, and y’all can figure out who ‘they’ is.”

It is the sixth time in the last seven Talladega races that a multi-car crash in the last 10 laps has marred the end of the race.

By the way, David Ragan won the race.
