NBA free agency: Kings agree to terms with Rajon Rondo, Marco Belinelli

A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Sacramento Kings and point guard Rajon Rondo have agreed to a one-year deal for $10 million. That comes hours after the Kings and shooting guard Marco Belinelli agreed to a $19-million, three-year contract.

Rondo is trying to recover from a brief but tumultuous tenure in Dallas. He was benched several times by Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle after coming over in a December trade from Boston, where he helped the Celtics win the 2008 title and return to the NBA Finals in 2010.

Belinelli has played the last two seasons with San Antonio, helping the Spurs win the NBA championship in 2014.

Belinelli gives the Kings the shooting guard they’ve been searching for to pair with All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins. Sacramento was turned down Thursday by Wesley Matthews, who accepted a deal with Dallas that will be determined after the signing of Jordan.

Knicks sign a center

Robin Lopez has agreed to sign with the New York Knicks, a person with knowledge of the details said Friday, and will play across town from twin brother and Brooklyn Nets center Brook.

Robin Lopez will leave the Portland Trail Blazers to fill the open spot in the middle for the Knicks, the person told the Associated Press. Yahoo Sports reported Lopez would receive a four-year deal worth $54 million.

The Knicks have been seeking a center since trading Tyson Chandler last summer. They had also spoken to DeAndre Jordan and Greg Monroe before those players chose to go elsewhere.

Robin Lopez’s decision comes just days after Brook Lopez agreed to stay with the Nets for a reported $60 million over three years.

Unlike his brother, Robin Lopez is limited offensively but is a solid defensive player. He has averaged 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in his career, which includes four years in Phoenix and a stop in New Orleans before two seasons with Portland.

He becomes the second player to leave the Trail Blazers for the Knicks this summer. Arron Afflalo agreed to a $16-million, two-year deal on Thursday.

Free-agent shooting guard Gary Neal has agreed to a $2.1 million, one-year contract with the Washington Wizards. Neal, 30, has averaged 9.9 points and 38.1% shooting on three-point attempts during five NBA seasons with four franchises. He was traded to Minnesota by Charlotte in February. ... Becky Hammon is about to become the first woman to serve as the head coach of an NBA summer league team. San Antonio announced Friday that Hammon will lead the Spurs during summer league play in Las Vegas. She is entering her second season as an assistant coach for the Spurs, who will have video coordinator Will Hardy handle the head-coach duties for a summer league entry in Utah.
