LeBron James on free agency: ‘I’ve got no plans to go nowhere at this point’

LeBron James could leave the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent this summer.

But why would he want to do that? The Akron native delivered on his promise to bring Cleveland a major sports title three days ago, and a million or more people were expected to attend Wednesday’s victory parade for the NBA champion Cavaliers.

“I love it here. I love being here. I love my teammates,” James told cleveland.com, moments before he boarded a float at Quicken Loans arena.

“Obviously my agent will take care of all the logistical things, but I’m happy. I’ve got no plans to go nowhere at this point.”

Sounds like James plans to exercise his one-year, $24-million option to stay with the Cavaliers for the 2016-17 season. He could make more than $30 million with a new contract the following year.

“This is the happiest time in my life right now,” said James, who also won two NBA titles with the Miami Heat.
