Trevor Ariza’s three-pointer with 4:43 remaining gave the Rockets their first lead since midway through the first quarter. Houston built on that advantage with an alley-oop dunk from Howard, before Patrick Patterson tied it at 102 with a three-pointer with 3:38 to play.

Howard fouled out with 2:08 left and DeRozan made one free throw to put the Raptors back on top. But Harden, who had 20 points in the quarter, scored the next five points on a three-pointer and a pair of free throws to put Houston up by four points with 1:18 remaining.

A flagrant foul by DeRozan on Patrick Beverley with 1:02 to go saw the Houston point guard shoot one of two from the free-throw line to increase the lead to five, before Clint Capela’s dunk took the game beyond Toronto’s reach.
