Some people might think the Cincinnati Bengals were lucky that Mike Nugent's overtime kick hit the left upright and ricocheted inward for a 27-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

But those folks obviously know very little about science.

It's as if they've never heard of the Coriolis force.

Or that they didn't even realize that Paul Brown Stadium is not oriented from north to south.

Good thing for the Bengals that kicker Nugent clearly knew all of this as he lined up for a 42-yard field goal attempt in overtime.

If the Earth hadn't been rotating just the way Nugent had calculated it, the Bengals may not have improved to 5-0.

Still don't get it? Well, I'll let noted astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson take it from here.

Duh.
