Tom Brady on giving up his Deflategate legal battle: ‘It was a personal decision’
Tom Brady called his choice to stop fighting his four-game Deflategate suspension “a personal decision.”
But that didn’t stop reporters from continuing to ask the New England Patriots quarterback about it throughout a five-minute interview after practice Friday.
Brady didn’t offer much insight during his first comments to the media since ending his legal fight against the punishment last month, mainly emphasizing that he’s just trying to stay positive and focused on improving during training camp.

“It was just a personal decision,” said Brady, who can practice and play during the preseason but not during the suspension. “So I tried to come out here and just focus on what I need to do to get better and help our team. Like I said, I’ll be excited to be back when I’m back and I’ll be cheering our team on, hopefully we can go out and win every game.”
Two questions later, both suspension related, Brady reiterated that “it’s just personal” and added that “I’ve tried to move on from it.”
Brady took three more questions, again all about Deflategate matters, before his time was up. He did reveal that he hasn’t really thought much about how he’s going to feel when he’s not on the field with his teammates. “I’ll deal with that when it comes,” he said.
One thing that did not come up during the five-minute session: Brady completed 25 of 25 passes during an intrasquad scrimmage Friday morning.
