Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander is awaiting the results of his third MRI for his strained right triceps.

Verlander had the test Tuesday on Chicago. He is hoping the inflammation has subsided enough to allow him to increase his throwing program.

Verlander began the season on the disabled list, and then cut short a simulated game due to fatigue and soreness. The 2011 AL MVP says he feels “a little bit better.” He also says he hopes to start throwing again soon.

The last time Colorado was rained out in three games in a row had been April 2005, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
