At the end of the third, Ellsworth began to make a comeback playing in front of their home crowd making it a 45-39 game, but still in favor of Harbor Light.
The Swordsmen would hold tight down the stretch to pull out the key conference game.
For Ellsworth, 9-9, 7-4, Kari Steenwyk scored 14 points, while Tara Essenberg and Kendra Warner each scored 10 points.
Kalkaska 66, Charlevoix 42
KALKASKA — Madeline Boss scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds for the Charlevoix girls’ basketball team Monday as the Rayders fell to Lake Michigan Conference opponent Kalkaska.
The Rayders fall to 6-13 overall on the year, with a 5-8 record in league play.
Kourtney Putman scored eight points, while Gabby Gray brought in six.
Karley Pearsall added 10 rebounds, while Boss also had three steals on the night.
The Blazers led throughout the night, leading after the first quarter 13-7 and at the half, 31-19.
After three quarters of play, Kalkaska had built a 45-27 lead with the game well in hand.
Kelli Guy led the Blazers, 15-3, 11-1, in scoring with 25 points.
