BIG RAPIDS -- Petoskey shot 324 Friday during the first round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division II boys golf state finals at Katke Golf Course on the campus of Ferris State University.
The Northmen are 11th in the 15-team field, 25 shots behind first-place Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood.
DeWitt is second with 311, followed by Big Rapids, 313. Grand Rapids South Christian and Tecumseh are tied for fourth at 314.
Alex Dombrowski of Gaylord shot 67 for a one-shot lead over Tyler Polulak of DeWitt. Dombrowski qualified for the finals as an individual.
Hunter Pulaski shot 77 to lead the Northmen, while Caleb Dann posted a 79, Cam Ludlow and Tyler Speigl both shot 84, and Kam Friedli carded a 90.
The second and final round is scheduled for Saturday.
In the Division IV state finals at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University, Bennett Langton of Harbor Springs shot 86 and Kirk Muller of Harbor Light Christian posted a 93.
