All the summer camp drills, hot practices in August, weekend tournaments and long bus trips comes down to this.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association district volleyball tournaments swing into action Monday, Oct. 29, in two locales, while every area team will start play in one of four tournaments either Monday or Tuesday.
In a Class C district hosted by Boyne City, Charlevoix faces East Jordan at 6 p.m. Monday at the Boyne City High School gym. Boyne City then faces Inland Lakes at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, followed by Harbor Springs playing the winner of Charlevoix-East Jordan at 8 p.m.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Petoskey will begin Class A district play at 7 p.m. in Gaylord against the host Blue Devils.
The Gaylord district features a triple header on Tuesday starting at 4 p.m. with Traverse City Central facing Marquette, followed by a 5:30 p.m. match between Traverse City West and Alpena.
Sault Ste. Marie drew a bye, and will wait to play the winner of the Petoskey-Gaylord match at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. The other semifinal match will follow at 1:30 p.m., with the finals at 3 p.m. All games will be played at the Gaylord High School gym.
Alanson opens play in a Class D district at the Alanson High School at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Wolverine.
Pellston will play Harbor Light Christian at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 followed by Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy when it faces the winner of the Alanson-Harbor Light match at 7 p.m.
The finals are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
In the Class D district hosted by Bellaire, Ellsworth is scheduled to play Alba at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Bellaire High School gym.
Bellaire will face Central Lake at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and the winner of Ellsworth-Alba will face Gaylord St. Mary at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The district final is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
The winner of the Class A district involving Petoskey will advance to the regional semifinal in Grand Haven and play against the Cedar Springs district winner on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The winner of the Class C district hosted by Boyne City will advance to the regional semifinal on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at T.C. St. Francis and will face the Maple City Glen Lake district winner.
The winner of the Class D district hosted by Alanson will advance to the regioanal semifinal in St. Igance on Tuesday, Nov. 6, and will face the district winner hosted by Posen.
The winner of the Class D district hosted by Bellaire will advance to the regional semifinal in Bear Lake playing the district winner of the Suttons Bay district on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
