Big East: Noel Devine leads West Virginia over Syracuse

* at West Virginia 17, Syracuse 6: Noel Devine rushed for a career-high 188 yards and a touchdown, leading the Mountaineers (4-2, 2-0) over the Orange (1-5, 0-2) at Morgantown. West Virginia's offense struggled without starting quarterback Pat White, who wasn't in uniform after receiving a blow to the head against Rutgers a week earlier. It marked the fewest points for West Virginia in a win since a 15-7 victory over Syracuse in 2005. Syracuse outgained West Virginia, 346-268. Curtis Brinkley ran for 144 yards, but the Orange was kept out of the end zone for the first time this season. Devine's touchdown run was a career-long 92-yard dash to complete the scoring.

* at Cincinnati 13, Rutgers 10: Redshirt freshman Chazz Anderson ran eight yards for a touchdown on a quarterback draw, and the Bearcats (5-1, 1-0) overcame an afternoon of penalties and punts to beat the Scarlet Knights (1-5, 0-2). Anderson, making his second straight start after injuries wiped out Cincinnati's top quarterbacks, did just enough to help Cincinnati win its Big East opener. Rutgers is off to its worst start since 2002, when the Scarlet Knights were 1-11. Cincinnati had 12 penalties for 115 yards -- three of them personal fouls -- and was 0 for 11 on third down.
