October 12, 2008

* at No. 7 Texas Tech 37, Nebraska 31 (OT): Eric Morris scooted one yard around right end for a touchdown in overtime and Jamar Wall made that score stand up with an interception, and the Red Raiders (6-0, 2-0) defeated the Cornhuskers (3-3, 0-2) at Lubbock. Texas Tech left the door open for Nebraska to win it with a touchdown and extra point, when the Red Raiders botched the PAT after Morris' score, but the miscue didn't cost them. Joe Ganz, who threw for 349 yards for Nebraska, was scrambling and trying to throw the ball away on the Huskers' second play when Jamar Wall intercepted the pass to end the game. Graham Harrell, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, completed 20 of 25 passes for 284 yards.

* at No. 16 Kansas 30, Colorado 14: Jake Sharp scored three touchdowns and Todd Reesing threw for 256 yards and another score, leading the Jayhawks (5-1, 2-0) over the Buffaloes (3-3, 0-2) at Lawrence. Kansas led only 16-14 after Cody Hawkins' one-yard touchdown run at the end of the third period. But Reesing quickly engineered two scoring drives to salt away Kansas' 20th win in 23 games and their 13th in a row at home. Sharp, a 190-pound junior, had 118 yards on a career-high 31 carries and scored on runs of one, eight and seven yards. Reesing was 27 for 34 without an interception.

* Kansas State 44, at Texas A&M 30: Josh Freeman completed 21 of 26 passes and ran for four touchdowns at College Station, and the Wildcats (4-2, 1-1) ended their five-game losing streak to the Aggies (2-4, 0-2). Courtney Herndon returned a blocked punt for a touchdown for Kansas State, which led, 27-10, at halftime. Jerrod Johnson completed 29 of 41 passes for a school-record 419 yards for Texas A&M.

* at Baylor 38, Iowa State 10: Freshman quarterback Robert Griffin completed 21 of 24 passes for 278 yards with two touchdowns to Kendall Wright, and also ran for another score to lead the Bears (3-3, 1-1) over the Cyclones (2-4, 0-2) at Waco, Texas. Baylor ended a 13-game conference losing streak that dated to a 36-35 win over Kansas on Oct. 22, 2006.
