DUCKS REPORT

Leading scorer Perry out for rest of season

The winger was cut by a skate during the Ducks’ 1-0 loss to Colorado Avalanche and suffered a deep laceration to his right leg.

The Ducks received bad news this morning when they learned that leading goal scorer Corey Perry will be lost for the remainder of the regular season because of a deep laceration to his right leg that took place in Thursday’s 1-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

A team spokesman could not confirm the exact nature of the injury, but it’s believed that Perry suffered a severed tendon when he was inadvertently cut by a skate midway though the third period.

Perry was taken to a Denver hospital and underwent surgery to repair the injury. The winger is expected to travel back to Anaheim today.

Perry, 22, leads the Ducks with 29 goals and his 54 points rank second on the team. The best scenario for his possible return is if the defending Stanley Cup champions win a round in the playoffs.

A restricted free agent if he isn’t re-signed by July, Perry is expected to command at least $4 million per season in his next contract.

The Ducks recalled winger Bobby Ryan from their minor-league team in Portland, Maine. Ryan has three goals and two assists in 13 games over two different stints with the parent club.

Ryan had 21 goals and 49 points in 48 games at Portland.
