Chicago defeats San Francisco, 6-5
Mike Fontenot and Jim Edmonds homer for the Cubs.
* Chicago 6, San Francisco 5: Mike Fontenot hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning. Jim Edmonds also homered for the Cubs, who have scored 16 runs in the first three games of the four-game series.
* at Colorado 8, San Diego 1: Garrett Atkins, Troy Tulowitzki and Yorvit Torrealba homered for the Rockies.
* Philadelphia 7, at Atlanta 3: Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer and Pat Burrell added a solo shot for the Phillies.
* Pittsburgh 9, at Cincinnati 5: Xavier Nady homered twice and drove in four runs for the Pirates.
* Milwaukee 4, at Arizona 3: Mike Cameron singled home Russell Branyan with one out in the top of the ninth.
* at Florida 4, Washington 2: Alfredo Amezaga hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh inning.
* at St. Louis 8, New York 7: Troy Glaus’ second homer, with two out in the ninth, won it.
* Dodgers 4, at Houston 1: Hiroki Kuroda threw seven shutout innings after coming off the disabled list.
