Chivas USA is closing in on a local television deal with a Spanish-language station to have as many as 10 games broadcast live this season.

The Galaxy also could announce a multi-year Spanish-language TV deal but live game coverage was not expected to be a large part of the agreement.

Major League Soccer has a deal with Telefutura to show one game a week nationally on Sundays. The Houston Dynamo was the only team to have local games broadcast in Spanish last season.

Chivas USA, which showed games in its first two seasons on tape delay on Channel 54, has been negotiating with two local stations about broadcasting as many as 10 games as well as producing a weekly 30-minute show. An announcement could come as soon as next week.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy will soon announce that its weekly Spanish-language show, "Galaxy Deportivo," will be carried by Telemundo. Previously, it had been shown on Channel 22, a Telemundo-owned station.

Both Chivas USA and the Galaxy have English-language television deals with Fox Sports Net.
