Felix Borja scored on a rebound in the 47th minute and Chivas USA beat Real Salt Lake, 1-0, Sunday at StubHub Center to end a winless streak at 12 games.

Chivas USA also ended a losing streak at seven games despite conceding 74.1% possession to Real Salt Lake while waiting for opportunities to counter.

Rich Balchan obliged with an errant back pass that Erick Torres intercepted. Torres pressed forward for a chip shot that hit the crossbar and bounced to Borja for his first goal for Chivas USA.

Balchan entered in the 39th minute as a substitute for Chris Schuler, who suffered a facial contusion, and possibly a broken nose, after colliding with Nat Borchers.

Nick Rimando saved Torres’ penalty kick in the 64th minute.

Real Salt Lake missed an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot.
