Update: This is the third regular-season meeting between these Western Conference rivals; Real Salt Lake defeated the Galaxy, 1-0, at StubHub Center on March 8, and the teams played to a 1-1 draw on March 22 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah. The Galaxy is undefeated in its last six Major League Soccer games, but the club also is struggling to post victories. Three of its last four matches have ended in ties. The Galaxy should be back at full strength with the return of defender Omar Gonzalez, who was on the U.S. national team at the World Cup. Real Salt Lake, which defeated the Galaxy in last year’s postseason Western Conference semifinals, is coming off a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on July 4.
