They played to a 1-1 draw on May 11 in Portland, when each club scored in stoppage time, then had a 2-2 tie on July 4 at StubHub Center, when the Galaxy's tying goal was courtesy of an own goal by Portland defender Rauwshan McKenzie. The Galaxy enters this game coming off a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders last Monday. The Timbers have won their last two games, most recently a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Impact.
