Galaxy forward Alan Gordon was called up by the U.S. national team Tuesday, replacing the Seattle Sounders’ Jordan Morris.

Gordon, 35, was expected to join the team Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico. The U.S. plays again Nov. 15 in Costa Rica.

Gordon was on the roster for the third round of World Cup qualifying last November but did not appear in a game. He has two caps lifetime for the national team, the most recent in 2015 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

A 13-year MLS veteran, Gordon has 52 career regular-season goals. This season he played in 25 games for the Galaxy, including the playoffs, scoring four goals and assisting on three others.

Morris, the likely MLS Rookie of the Year, sustained a hamstring strain in the Sounders’ playoff win over FC Dallas on Sunday.
