FC Dallas beats Seattle on penalty kicks, advances to conference finals

FC Dallas beat the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night in Frisco, Texas, behind Walker Zimmerman’s 91st-minute goal and clinching penalty kick.

FC Dallas won, 4-2, on penalty kicks. The result after the first 180 minutes of the two-leg series was a tie in the aggregate score, 3-3, and away goals, 1-1.

FC Dallas will face Portland in the first leg of the Western Conference finals in Texas on Nov. 22.

Portland 2, at Vancouver 0: Fanendo Adi and Diego Chara scored to send the Timbers to the conference finals for the second time in franchise history.

At Columbus 3, Montreal 1: Kei Kamara scored his second goal, in the 111th minute, and the Crew advanced to face the New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference finals starting Nov. 22.

The Crew needed extra time to gain the 4-3 series edge over the Impact.

At New York 1, D.C. United 0: Bradley Wright-Phillips scored two minutes into second-half injury time to lift the Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls also won the first leg of the two-game series, 1-0.
