Kosar is being replaced by Solomon Wilcots, the Browns announced Wednesday. Kosar called that decision "unfortunate," adding that doing the preseason games was "truly one of the remaining joys in my life."
Last summer Kosar received criticism for his comments about
"Bless me father for I have sinned," Kosar said of Clemens. "I have to watch him the whole fourth quarter."
Kosar also said: "These St. Louis receivers are horrible."
Former Browns CEO Joe Banner issued a public apology for Kosar's words.
"We don't condone the personal and unprofessional approach that Bernie took with some of his comments during the broadcast (Aug. 8)," Banner said in a statement. "We've spoken to Bernie, he understands that, and we would expect the situation is resolved moving forward. We've also reached out to the Rams organization and have shared those same sentiments."
The Browns are in discussions with Kosar about having a new role with the team.
