Remember the time Brandon Marshall caught three touchdown passes against the San Francisco 49ers?

He doesn’t. Not much of it anyway. And it was just two years ago.

“I don’t really remember much about that game, because I worked really hard to get back from a high ankle [sprain],” Marshall said Wednesday during a conference call with San Francisco-area reporters.

The New York Jets receiver, who played for the Chicago Bears at the time, paused before continuing.

“I’ll say it: I took a couple pain pills that masked the pain,” he said. “I really wasn’t supposed to play. I came back from a high ankle [sprain] within 10 days. I was supposed to be out four to six weeks. I don’t remember much from that game. I just remember catching those balls. And that was pretty much it.”

Marshall finished with five catches for 48 yards during the Bears’ 28-20 win on Sept. 14, 2014. It was one of only two times he’s had three touchdown receptions in a single game during his 11-year NFL career.

He will play the 49ers for the first time since then when the Jets visit Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
