Dodgers reinstate Yasiel Puig from DL
The Dodgers reinstated Yasiel Puig from the disabled list, activating him before Tuesday’s game against Washington.
To make room on the roster, the team optioned reliever Carlos Frias to triple-A Oklahoma City. Frias arrived on Sunday to provide protection for the bullpen, which was taxed last week.
The team plans to use Puig regularly in right field, but the emergence of Trayce Thompson could cut into his playing time. Manager Dave Roberts has said that Puig, who was hitting .237 when he landed on the disabled list due to a strained hamstring, will need to perform in order to receive at-bats.
Puig had five hits in 12 at-bats for class-A Rancho Cucamonga on a recent rehabilitation assignment. He hit a home run and walked three times.
