Alabama couple names baby Krimson Tyde, shocked by negative reactions

Share

Couples can name their babies whatever they want.

But they might want to remember that those babies are real people who might really resent the two people who stuck them with a name such as Krimson Tyde.

That’s right. Krimson Tyde.

Guess whose parents are huge Alabama football fans?

Yep, the little guy born on Dec. 17 to Summer and Steven Steele from Andalusia, Ala.

“The reason we named him Krimson is that we are big Alabama fans and it is a very unique name and we loved it,” Summer Steele told the Alabama Media Group on Sunday.

Somehow the news made its way to Twitter and, needless to say, a lot of folks out there are pretty critical of the Steeles’ choice.

“I’m very shocked, I didn’t think people would make a very big deal about it,” Summer Steele said.

She added: “To people speaking negatively about us naming him Krimson, it’s not their child nor family member so if they have nothing nice to say they don’t need to say nothing at all.”

Not all the reactions have been negative. The couple also has gotten plenty of support on Twitter and elsewhere.

“I would definitely say to fulfill their fantasy. Stay Alabama fans and live every day to the fullest,” Shane Broadhurst said. “I hate that they’re having to go through that and hear a bunch of crap. You should be able to name your young’un what you want.”

By the way, Broadhurst is the father of two children -- 2-year-old son Crimson Tide and 5-month-old daughter Alleigh Bama.
