Michigan State forward Branden Dawson will be out at least four weeks after he broke a bone in his right hand, the school announced Thursday. A broken hand isn’t that unusual of an injury for a basketball player, but the way it was broken was quite odd: It happened while he was watching game film.

“We were also watching some TV clippings from videos from the Indiana game of [ESPN analyst] Dan Dakich saying that the key to our winning the national championship is going to come up to me and my intensity,” Dawson told MLive.com. “I kind of got frustrated with how I’ve been playing and how I know I can play. I kind of got frustrated and I slammed my hand against the table out of frustration.”

Dawson will miss about 10 games for the Spartans, who are ranked third in the country, but should be back in time for the NCAA tournament. He is averaging 10.2 points and 8.7 rebounds a game.
