Brett Favre appeared on Fox’s Super Bowl pregame show via satellite -- from the future!

Well, actually, it was just from his home in Mississippi during the present time, but it definitely seemed like something that was being beamed to us from maybe 2030 or so.

That’s because of his beard -- that gloriously bushy and gray beard that made the future Hall of Famer appear to be years beyond his relatively young age of 44.

I’m not ragging on the guy. Believe me, I’d kill for that amazing head of hair he’s got.

But that beard, combined with all the tidbits of wisdom Favre was passing on during the interview, made the ol’ gunslinger seem more like ... well, a much older gunslinger.

It’s really not a bad look. But the follicles were so startling that Favre, who was the offensive coordinator for the state champion Oak Grove High football team this season, was forced to explain:

“I started it at the end of our high school football season. It’s that transition from hot to colder hunting season and blah blah blah ... I just got lazy.”

On the other end of the spectrum was another legendary quarterback, Joe Namath, 70, who seemingly took years off his life by wearing an enormous fur coat while performing the pregame coin flip.

It was a throwback to his glory years back with the New York Jets back in the 1970s. But it is said to have cost Broadway Joe around $3,000, and surely he’s hearing about the fashion choice from animal rights activists.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Favre’s beard, Namath’s affinity for fuzzy coats ... uh, never mind. Too disgusting to even think about.
