Carmelo Anthony to miss Knicks-Thunder game on Christmas
NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony will miss the New York Knicks’ game against Oklahoma City with a sprained left ankle, unable to take part in a Christmas Day showdown with Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant.
Anthony was hurt Monday in a victory at Orlando and hoped to play Wednesday, but the Knicks announced he would not be in uniform about 50 minutes before tipoff.
It’s the first game that Anthony, who averages 26.3 points, second to Durant’s 28.1, has missed this season. Anthony edged him to win last season’s scoring title.
The Knicks did have Kenyon Martin, who has missed the last five games with a strained abdominal muscle.
