Proper punctuation can mean the difference between Dicks, a sporting goods store, and, well, something else.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are learning that lesson.

A tweet posted to the team’s verified account about 11 a.m. Tuesday was meant to showcase how star Kevin Love spent his Tuesday -- partnering with Dicks Sporting Goods for the Holiday Hoops kick-off event.

Problem is, the D in the chain’s name was not capitalized, and “sporting goods” was not mentioned, so the tweet took on a whole new meaning.

The team was blasted by people for the tweet, not so much for it being offense, but for the fact that it remained on their feed until about 5:40 p.m. PST.
