Chad Johnson cut by Miami as ‘Hard Knocks’ cameras roll [Video]

&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PESPT000008804”&amp;gt;Chad Johnson&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt; might have been the star of “Hard Knocks,” the HBO reality show focusing on the &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000189”&amp;gt;Miami Dolphins&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;’ training camp this season. But he wasn’t going to be a star for the Miami Dolphins on the football field.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;That was probably clear before the veteran wide receiver even got there, following his dismal season with the &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000192”&amp;gt;New England Patriots&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;. And it became even more apparent after he got under Coach &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PESPT0016423”&amp;gt;Joe Philbin&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;’s skin with inappropriate tweets and a profanity-laced session with the media.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Then came Friday’s preseason opener, in which Johnson dropped the only pass thrown his way. And, of course, the next night Johnson was arrested after allegedly head-butting his wife, &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”PECLB0015197”&amp;gt;Evelyn Lozada&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt;, who has since filed for divorce.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Johnson was released on bail the next day, and then he was released by the Dolphins. But not before appearing in one last must-see segment of “Hard Knocks” as Philbin struggled his way through informing the former Pro Bowler of the team’s decision.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Philbin tried to deliver the news in the gentlest way possible, telling Johnson it was best for all involved that they “kinda part ways.” How’s that for an awkward breakup?&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;And it got worse. Johnson sat in silence as his now-former coach eventually resorted to sputtering out sentence fragments -- “I’m certain you can overcome this thing ... is there anything ... more ... I mean ...?” -- before finally letting the poor guy off the hook by thanking him for the opportunity.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Obviously, it was a tough situation for both men.
