Heat player calls Shelly Sterling’s Clippers ownership ‘unacceptable’
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers recently said it would be difficult for Shelly Sterling to retain ownership of the Clippers.
James Jones, a player for the Miami Heat and the team’s union representative, took it a step further Saturday.
“No, that’s not something that’s acceptable to us,” Jones told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “That’s our stance, and it hasn’t changed, and it won’t.”
Shelly Sterling is a co-owner of the Clippers and has said she wants to maintain control of the team even though her husband, Donald, has been banned for life from all NBA activities.
She was at Staples Center to witness the Clippers’ playoff loss Friday to Oklahoma City. They trail the best-of-seven series two games to one. Game 4 is Sunday at Staples Center.
Donald Sterling was suspended for life from all NBA activities because of a racially charged recording that surfaced two weeks ago.
