The Clippers left Los Angeles two days before playing the Atlanta Hawks so they could get their West Coast bodies adjusted to the three-hour time difference on the East Coast.
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said he did the same thing on cross-country trips when he coached the Boston Celtics, leaving the East Coast early when coming west, if it was possible.
This time it was possible for the Clippers to leave on Monday night, two days before Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks at Philips Arena.
“I just think it always helps,” Rivers said. “I always think it’s far tougher going this way [from the West to the East].”
The Clippers rested and then practiced Tuesday.
They also had a shoot-around Wednesday on the campus of Georgia Tech.
“We had a great practice [Tuesday],” Rivers said. “And we’re back at it again today [at shoot-around]. But I think it helps."
