Prosecutors also added counts against former Athletic Director
"This is about three powerful and influential men, three men who used their positions at Penn State to cover up and conceal the activities" of Sandusky, said Pennsylvania Atty. Gen. Linda Kelly in announcing the charges.
Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator at Penn State, was convicted in June of sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years. He is serving a 30- to 60-year sentence at a maximum security prison.
Prosecutors claimed that Spanier, Curley and Schultz knew of allegations that Sandusky had showered with boys in 1998 and 2001 and were involved in a cover-up.
All three men have maintained their innocence.
