Jamal Crawford is truly a player who delights in his craft.

The night before he got married, during what was considered his bachelor party, he chose to play basketball.

“Jamal is probably the only person in the world that had a pickup game the night before his wedding at midnight,” Matt Barnes said during Clippers’ media day Monday. “He had us all come out to a gym that was packed -- 3,000 people there. We finished the game at like 3 in the morning and didn’t sleep.”

Crawford got married in August to his longtime girlfriend Tori Lucas. The attendees included Clippers teammates Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, Matt Barnes, J.J. Reddick, LaMarcus Aldridge and former Clipper Grant Hill.

“It’s making things complete,” Crawford said. “It was one of those special days. It will end up being one of the best days of my life except for [having] kids.”

Crawford, a 14-year NBA veteran, won sixth man of the year in 2010 and 2014 and holds the record for most career four-point plays made (44). He apparently loves basketball so much that he spent part of his summer watching other people delight in playing pickup games at local gyms.

“I would go to random gyms and watch people at L.A. Fitness,” he said. “It was interesting to see people, how they love baskeball. No matter what level you’re playing at, they cherish every win in the gym. I just sat back and watched it.”

Crawford averaged 18.6 points and 3.2 assists last season. He struggled because of a strained left calf, but said that injury is no longer bothering him.

“The calf is good,” he said. “I’m dealing with a little foot issue, but it’s nothing serious.”

He added that he should be fine to participate in training camp.
