New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr, who will be 42 next month, was named to the Czech Republic’s Olympic team for the fifth time.

Jagr played on the Czech team that won the gold medal in 1998, the first tournament in which NHL players were allowed to represent their homelands. He also won bronze in 2006.

The Czech team had the luxury of choosing a number of NHL players. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec of Winnipeg was selected, as were defensemen Ladislav Smid of Calgary, Michal Rozsival of Chicago, Marek Zidlicky of New Jersey and Radko Gudas of Tampa Bay. Former NHL player Tomas Kaberle, now playing for Kladno in the Czech Republic, also was chosen.
