Watch Joe Johnson break Paul Pierce’s ankles (not literally)

Share

Joe Johnson broke Paul Pierce’s ankles when the Brooklyn Nets played the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night -- and it had nothing to do with the scuffle that broke out between the two teams during the game.

Luckily it had nothing to do with actual body parts either.

Around the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter, Johnson was driving on Pierce and suddenly went low with his dribble. The Celtics forward bit on the move -- and landed on the floor, allowing Johnson to scoot around him for an easy jump shot to give Brooklyn an 11-point lead in Boston.

The Nets went on to claim a 95-83 victory.

Johnson’s move on Pierce quickly made NBA.com’s top “ankle breakers” list, but the play may have been overshadowed by the brawl that took place earlier in the game after Brooklyn power forward Kris Humphries committed a hard foul on Boston power forward Kevin Garnett.

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo proceeded to shove Humphries, starting a fight that involved Nets forward Gerald Wallace, among other players, and eventually spilled into the seating area. Humphries, Wallace and Rondo were all ejected.
