John Cena is named host of the 2016 ESPYs
The list of greats who have hosted the ESPYs in the past is endless: Justin Timberlake, LeBron James..... Rob Riggle? Anyway, you can add another name to the list: WWE superstar John Cena.
Cena was announced Thursday as the host for the 2016 ESPYs, which will be held on July 13 at 5 p.m. Pacific at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live.
Cena, the linchpin of WWE’s success for the last several years, has been trying to raise his national profile recently, including appearances in “Trainwreck,” starring Amy Schumer, and “Sisters,” starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
“It is truly an honor to be named host of the 2016 ESPYS,” said Cena. “Not only will the biggest names in sports and entertainment come together to recognize some of the most spectacular athletic performances of the year, but we’ll also raise funds for the V Foundation to further much-needed cancer research.”
