Kings Coach Darryl Sutter was doing what coaches do.

Or what highly skilled coaches do.

He was attempting to put the best face on what has been a most difficult stretch. The Kings are winless on the road this season (0-3-2). Tonight against the Stars is the last chance to reverse fortune on this trip after they lost in overtime at Philadelphia and dropped games in regulation to Pittsburgh, Detroit and Carolina.

The Kings look to keep things the same, meaning goalie Jonathan Quick will start again. It will be the second game back for linemates Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik.

Now, over to you, Mr. Sutter.

“We played really well on the road, other than a few minutes in Detroit,” he said after Tuesday’s morning skate “I’m not getting too far ahead of myself, or too far behind.

“We probably played better in some of these games than we did in the miraculous homestand everyone talked about.”

Another fun phrase for the long-and-winding Sutter quote list: Miraculous homestand.

Of course, it does start to look that way after the last week.
