Lindsey Vonn, Shaun White honored on Forbes’ ‘30 under 30’ list

Three athletes headed for the 2014 Sochi Olympics have made the Forbes “30 Under 30: The Best in Sports” list.

The magazine picked an elite group of athletes who boast strong personal brands along with young executives making a mark on the sports industry.

Skier Lindsey Vonn and snowboarder Shaun White are on the list, along with tennis player Maria Sharapova, who will be in Russia as a television commentator for NBC.

Vonn was chosen as “the primary female face of the 2014 Winter Olympics.” Forbes also noted that dating Tiger Woods has raised her profile.

White drew high marks for his list of corporate endorsements and his 1.2 million Twitter followers.

Other athletes on the list included LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Rob Gronkowski and Sidney Crosby. They were joined by golfer Rory McIlroy and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, who recently announced their engagement.

The list was selected by: Joseph Bailey, a sports industry recruiter and former NFL executive; Peter Guber, co-owner of the Golden State Warriors; and Shawn McBride, a sports business consultant.
