The Harlem Globetrotters’ Corey “Thunder” Law set a new world record for longest basketball shot, swishing it from 109 feet, 9 inches from the basket at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix on Thursday.

“I didn’t know what to think at first, because I had never tried a shot from that distance before,” Law told the Globetrotters’ official website. “It seemed nearly impossible.”

Law and two other members of the Harlem Globetrotters alternated taking shots on Thursday for an hour before he made it.

Law stood sideways, took two steps with his left foot, then hurled the ball toward the basket with his right arm, breaking the previous record of 104 feet, 7 inches, which was set in February 2011.
