Wie shot a one-under 71 in the final round of the LPGA’s first major championship of the season and 11 under par overall.
It was Thompson’s first victory in a major and her fourth LPGA Tour victory.
Thompson and Wie started the day as co-leaders, but Thompson quickly took charge with a 10-foot birdie putt on the first hole and never looked back.
Thompson had four birdies overall and no bogeys, and she held a five-shot lead after nine holes.
Former Kraft Nabisco winner Stacy Lewis finished third at seven under par, while Cristie Kerr and Se Ri Pak finished tied for fourth at six under.
