The Angels acquired minor league reliever Kyle Winkler from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss on Thursday.

Winkler, 25, has split this season between double-A Montgomery (Ala.) and triple-A Durham (N.C.), compiling a 1.46 earned-run average in 10 games with 15 strikeouts and one walk in 12 1/3 innings.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound right-hander converted from a starter to a reliever in 2014 and has a 12-14 record and 4.81 ERA in four minor league seasons, with 235 strikeouts and 110 walks in 236 innings. Winkler is a former Texas Christian University teammate of Angels infielder Taylor Featherston.
