NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway postponed until Monday

Another NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, another rain delay.

For the fourth time in seven races this season, rain has intervened to keep cars off the track, with Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway the latest event to be delayed by inclement weather.

[UPDATED, 4:26 p.m. PDT, April 6: NASCAR announced the race has been postponed until 9 a.m. PDT Monday.]

Tony Stewart will start from pole for the race after knocking off Brad Keselowski from the top spot of the grid at the end of the final round of Friday’s qualifying session.

Stewart turned a lap of 195.454 mph to claim his 15th career pole position and first since Atlanta in 2012.

Heading into the race, Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads Sprint Cup standings with Matt Kenseth nine points behind. Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon and six-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson round out the top five in the standings.
