An Ohio State spokesman said a female cheerleader was unharmed after tripping and having several players fall over her as the Buckeyes charged from the tunnel onto the field before the national championship game Monday night.

The team normally makes a big entrance before games, running onto the field behind four students carrying large flags with the letters O-H-I-O.

But something went wrong before the title game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as one of the flags got caught in the ground and tripped cheerleader Ally Nelson.

As the photos above show, some players stumbled over her while others managed to leap over her. With the help of some fellow cheerleaders, Nelson crawled to safety.

Meanwhile, fans at the stadium were left wondering why the Buckeyes took the field behind just three lettered flags, O-H-I.

Luckily for Ohio State, the incident did not prove to be an omen for things to come, as the Buckeyes defeated Oregon, 42-20, to win the first College Football Playoff championship.
