Olympic sailor Trevor Moore missing off Florida coast
Authorities were continuing their search Friday for Olympic sailor Trevor Moore, whose inflatable dinghy was found empty off the Florida coast.
Moore was last seen taking to sea alone in the Biscayne Bay area near Miami on Thursday afternoon. His life vest and personal items were found in the unmanned craft, whose motor was idling.
“His boat was found this evening -- still in gear -- by a small island close to shore,” his fiancee, Libby Patton, wrote on Facebook. “Please pray for Trevor.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Miami Dade Fire-Rescue, Miami Dade police and the National Park Service are assisting in the search.
The 30-year-old sailor competed in the 2012 London Olympics, finishing 15th in his event with teammate Eric Storck.
