The Oxnard City Council unanimously approved a deal with the Rams on Tuesday to host the team’s spring practices in the city.

The River Ridge fields -- where the Dallas Cowboys stage their training camp -- will be home to the Rams from April 18 through June 17.

“This is positive news for the city of Oxnard given all the challenges that there are,” Oxnard Mayor Tim Flynn told the council before the 5-0 vote. “I’m really pleased about it.”

Oxnard will rent locker room facilities to the Rams for $680 a day from March 28 to June 24. The city will also receive $510 a day from the Rams for use of the fields.

After expenses, the city expects to make $75,450 from the arrangement.

The Rams are still searching for a training camp site in addition to a temporary home until the team constructs a permanent headquarters.
