Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones after being fined $35,000: ‘I can’t promise it won’t happen again’

Cincinnati cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones told reporters Wednesday that he’s been fined $35,000 for ripping off Amari Cooper’s helmet and pushing the Oakland receiver’s head into it during the Bengals’ 33-13 win over Oakland on Sunday.

“It’s way too much,” Jones said, adding that “$35,000 is a lot of money for a guy out playing football.”

Jones said he plans to appeal the penalty.

The incident occurred after a play in the second quarter, during which Cooper appeared to hit Jones in the throat. Jones, who was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, opted not to discuss what set him off.

“I’m going to [let] whatever happened on the field stay on the field,” he said. “Everybody knows how I play this game. That’s not going to stop.”

But, he said, “I don’t want to do nothing to hurt my team. I’ve got to keep my cool and play within the lines.”

Even so, Jones said, “I can’t promise it won’t happen again. I’m an emotional player.”
