Actor Patrick Dempsey to again drive in 24 Hours of Le Mans race
Actor Patrick Dempsey said Tuesday he plans to drive in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second consecutive year.
The “Grey’s Anatomy” star again will team with two other drivers, Joe Foster and Patrick Long, for the legendary endurance race June 14-15 in Le Mans, France.
The race features several classes of cars, and Dempsey’s trio will drive a Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE Am division.
The car will be prepared by Dempsey’s Atlanta-based team and Proton Competition, a German Porsche team.
Dempsey, an avid sports-car driver, and his partners drove a similar car last year at Le Mans and led several times before finishing fourth in their class.
“The grand spectacle of the race, the incredible passion of the fans and the outstanding cooperation of the organizers make Le Mans the unquestioned highlight of our racing season,” Dempsey, 48, said in a statement.
Dempsey’s team also competes in an American sports-car series named the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
