Richard Sherman’s baby boy entered the world Thursday morning, and his timing couldn’t have been better.

Not only did the young lad wait until several days after his father played in Super Bowl XLIX with the Seattle Seahawks, but he ended up being born on a rather appropriate date.

“My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15...” tweeted Sherman, who wears jersey No. 25. Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I’m ecstatic”

Sherman’s girlfriend, Ashley Moss, was due during the first week of February, creating some uncertainty as to the availability of the Seahawks star cornerback for the big game Feb. 1 against the New England Patriots.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Sherman said last week. “We’re not thinking about the possibility.”

On Friday, Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll jokingly referred to the unborn child as “Little Petey.”

But on Thursday -- four days after a much-questioned call by Carroll resulted in the Seahawks losing the Super Bowl -- Sherman and Moss reportedly named their son Rayden.
